Splendid specimen of Hauyne var. Lazurite from Sar-e Sang, Afghanistan. Lazurite is no longer a species and is now classified as a variety of Hauyne. It displays very sharp, well-formed and complete all over rhombic dodecahedron of 24mm. It has deep and saturated royal blue color to white areas. Often the Lazurite crystals are very difficult to find and not well formed, while this one is perfect. For references see the issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 45, # 3, May-June 2014. In very good condition – some natural imperfections. On acrylic base.
Pretty!
