Superb specimen of green Vesuvianite from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The crystals have from apple-green to gorgeous grass-green color due to Chromium. This is extremely rare color and usually the crystals are inosculated in the base, but here they stand freely. The gemmy crystals are very lustrous and strongly reflect the light giving superb sparkling appearance. They are very well shaped and sharp with translucent to transparent areas. Some lighter green Diopside is seen too. Overall excellent green Vesuvianite from this great now closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
Mesmerizing!
