Cool specimen of Garnet var. Grossular var. Chromian with Diopside from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The Grossular crystals to 1mm have rich grass-green to apple-green color result of Chromium. They have rhombic dodecahedral crystallization and strong luster. The crystals are gem. Green Diopside crystals cover the base. Very hard to find one of these now – the mine is closed. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
Marvelous!
