Beautiful specimen of Hematite decorated by slightly gemmy Rutile crystals with epitaxial growth from Cavradi gorge, Switzerland. Cavradi Hematites are classic and highly treasured. Mined 1980 with an old label. The Hematite crystals have perfect plate shape with beveled terminations. They grow in a three dimensional cluster. The Hematite has superb quality, with extremely lustrous faces which nicely reflects the light and cool growth striations. Above is seen epitaxial overgrowth of small reddish Rutile crystals, aligned in the direction of the Hematite growth. The Rutile crystals are well isolated, lustrous and gemmy. Water clear Quartz crystals and white Albite form the base. The contrast is very strong. In very good condition – some small nicks and contacts. On acrylic base.
