Exceptional specimen of gemmy blood-red Realgar crystals up to 18mm with Calcite from Shimen Mine, China. The specimen comes from the collection of Richard Eigenheer, France with an old label from 1990. The Realgar has very intense red color – saturated and striking. The crystals are sharp and lustrous with marvelous striations. Many are doubly terminated. The most amazing aspect is the gemminess of the crystals. Razor sharp colorless Calcite crystals form the base. They are glassy, strongly lustrous, light reflective and transparent. The Calcite has grey hue and gives superb contrast. Some damages.
