Exceptional crystal of very rare Garnet var. Grossular with grass green phantom from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. It is very gem with dark green core which is result of Chromium, surrounded by transparent colorless areas. The crystal has rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible contrast. Some small crystals grow above. The green cored Garnets are the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine Garnets. This was mined long time ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In excellent condition – one partial back side contact. On acrylic base.
Amazing jewel!
