Killer specimen of Cuprite crystals partially pseudomorphed by Copper. Displays sharp Cuprite octahedrons intergrown together. One dominant 21mm crystal at the top forms an excellent focal point. Some areas of the Cuprite have been replaced and pseudomorphed by Copper, keeping the octahedral shape. The Cuprite has very strong luster and light reflection. On strong light some areas are wine-red and slightly gemmy. Many crystals are only Copper. Some areas of the Copper are covered by micro crystals – probably Silver (not examined). Complete all over 360 degree specimen. For references see the issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 45, # 4, July-August 2014. In very good condition – some nicks and contacts.
Exceptional pseudomorph!
