Astounding specimen of gem Garnet var. Grossular with green phantoms set attractively on Prehnite half ball. Grossular crystals are super gem, with deep emerald-green cores, which are result of Chromium, surrounded by transparent areas. The crystals are up to 4mm big and they have rhombic dodecahedral sharp crystallization, glassy luster and irresistible contrast. Cream Prehnite hemisphere forms an excellent display and gives super contrast. This is of superior quality. Green cored Garnets are among the most unusual and rare Jeffrey mine Garnets. This was mined decades ago - the mine is closed now. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. Some contacts. On acrylic base.
