Knappenwand is a world famous mineral locality for fine Epidote-Byssolite and this is a superb specimen. Very delicate clusters of dense, fibrous hair like Byssolite needles cover the base. Byssolite has rich green color and it is very sparkling. Epidotes have very dark olive-green color. They are lustrous and strongly light reflective. White Albite crystals add a nice contrast. For references The Mineralogical Record, vol. 17, pp 167-181. In excellent condition - some contacts and nicks.

Knappenwand specimens are not common, always highly prized and this is a choice combo!
