An absolutely gorgeous gem rhodochrosite crystal from the famous NChwaning I Mine, South Africa. It is completely transparent, water clear and vitreous. It has a rich cherry-red color. The faces have glassy luster. The quality is outstanding - superb color and clarity so the crystal just glows. The deposit has produced these treasures long time ago and pieces like this have always been scarce. It displays beautifully all over 360 degree. The quality rivals the Sweet Home Mine Rhodochrosites. The cap face is very clean and lustrous, so it is difficult to say if it is cleaved. The price is conformed to that. For references see the 2017 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 48, # 1. Some minor nicks. On acrylic base.

Beauty!
