A killer and uncommon specimen of garnet var. grossular var. chromian with black chromite inclusions from the famous Jeffrey mine, Quebec, Canada. The smaller crystals are gem and clear with a glassy luster. The bigger crystals are translucent to 7mm, with waxy lustrous faces.  The garnets have a very deep and saturated grass-green color due to Chromium. The color is more intense than usually. The garnets are with sharp rhombic dodecahedral crystallization. Some minor inclusions of black chromite are seen too. Fine thumbnail from this closed mine. For references see the 2013 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 44, # 4. In excellent condition – some small contacts. On acrylic base.

Gorgeous!
