Marvelous and very rare shigaite crystals decorating sparkling rhodochrosite base from this famous locality - NChwaning I Mine, South Africa. Shigaite is a very rare aluminum manganese sulfate and the finest specimens for the species come from this locality. It displays sparkling small rhodochrosite crystals, completely covering the base. Above grow to 3mm shigaite crystals. They are tabular and hexagonal with a rich honey-red color. They are strongly light reflective and shiny. For references see the 2017 issue of The Mineralogical Record vol. 48, # 1. In excellent condition – some small contacts on one crystal. On acrylic base.

Superb shigaite-rhodochrosite combo – it is a chance to have such rarity!
