Knappenwand is a world famous mineral locality for fine Epidote-Byssolite and this is a beautiful specimen. Very delicate clusters of fibrous hair like Byssolite needles are impaled on Epidote crystals. Byssolite has green color and it is very sparkling. The Epidote crystals have dark olive-green color. They are lustrous and strongly light reflective. On a strong backlight they reveal marvelous gemminess and transparency. Minor white Albite adds a nice accent. Displays beautifully all over 360 degree. For references The Mineralogical Record, vol. 17, pp 167-181. In superb condition. On acrylic base.

Knappenwand specimens are not common, always highly prized and this is an exquisite piece!
