Knappenwand is a world famous mineral locality for fine Epidote-Byssolite and this is a beautiful specimen. Very dense clusters of fibrous hair like Byssolite needles are impaled on Epidote crystals. Byssolite has green color and it is very sparkling. Epidotes have very dark olive-green color. They are lustrous and strongly light reflective. Some white Albite clusters add a nice accent. For references The Mineralogical Record, vol. 17, pp 167-181. In very good condition - some contacts. On acrylic base.

Knappenwand specimens are not common, always highly prized and this is an exquisite piece!
